About Statue of Zeus at Olympia
One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Created by the sculptor Phidias in gold, ivory, and ebony. Stood about 41 feet tall inside a temple built to house it. The cedar throne was inlaid with jewels and precious metals. Destroyed by fire after being moved to Constantinople. Its image appeared on ancient coins for centuries.
