About Christ the Redeemer
Stands 98 feet tall on a 26-foot pedestal atop Corcovado mountain. Arms stretch 92 feet wide. Made of reinforced concrete and soapstone. Built in pieces and assembled on site. Struck by lightning 3 to 5 times per year. One of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The soapstone pieces were made by women writing messages on them.
