About Parthenon
Dedicated to Athena, patron goddess of Athens. Uses optical illusions: columns lean slightly inward and the floor curves upward by 2.3 inches. Built from 13,400 blocks of Pentelic marble. The golden ratio appears throughout. Converted to a Christian church in 590 AD and a mosque in 1460.
