About Lighthouse of Alexandria
One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Built on the island of Pharos to guide ships into Alexandria harbor. Estimated between 330 and 440 feet tall, among the tallest structures on Earth for centuries. A fire burned at its summit with a giant bronze mirror. Damaged by earthquakes and finally collapsed by the 1480s. Divers found its blocks on the seabed in 1994.
