About Palais Garnier

The opera house that inspired The Phantom of the Opera. Its grand staircase is a stage in itself. The ceiling was repainted by Chagall in 1964. The grand chandelier weighs over 8 tons. A real underground water tank lies beneath the building. The auditorium seats nearly 2,000 in red velvet and gold. Designed by Charles Garnier in the Beaux-Arts style.
