The pyramid has 365 steps, one for each day of the year. During equinoxes a shadow serpent appears to slither down the steps. A handclap at the base produces a chirping echo resembling the quetzal bird. The pyramid sits over a cenote, a natural sinkhole. Named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
